I completed a BA in French and German at the University of Cardiff. I subsequently enjoyed teaching English as a foreign language abroad and applied for the PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages at the University of Bristol in 2007. I applied to Bristol due to the reputation of the university and the course.
All aspects of the course were well run and very enjoyable, in particular the teaching from my tutor Elizabeth Lazarus and her mentorship as my tutor were invaluable. She was a very warm person, extremely supportive, valued you as a person and had a wide breadth of knowledge.
After graduating I worked for four years teaching French and German in a secondary school near Bath. I then lived and worked in Barcelona for a year and I am now teaching French and Spanish at a school in Swindon. My proudest achievement since completing my studies has been acting as a PGCE mentor myself; training two new teachers and seeing them grow.
Teaching is an enjoyable and rewarding job, which keeps you mentally active and physically fit but be prepared to give over your life to the job.
